*Note of possible bus fuel surcharge. Although unlikely, due to the volatility of the current fuel costs, there could be a possibility in future of a surcharge from the bus companies if things do not stabilize. We do not think this likely and have never implemented this on any tour, but it is a possibility at time of final payment.

Single Occupancy Options at Cavalonga

Please note that Hotel Parco Cavalonga does not offer designated single-occupancy rooms within the main lodge. As a result, guests requesting a private room in the lodge must reserve a standard double room for single use. This creates an additional single-occupancy upgrade cost of approximately $900 for the five-night stay at Cavalonga, resulting in a single upgrade cost for the trip to be $2,250 instead of $1,350.

We do, however, offer an alternative option that provides approximately $650 in savings.

Cavalonga has four charming farmhouse units located on the property. Deb and Dan stayed in one of these on our scouting trip and loved it!  Each farmhouse is a two-bedroom, two-bath accommodation, allowing single travelers to enjoy:

• Their own private bedroom
• Their own private bathroom
• A shared living room with another single traveler of the same sex

These farmhouse units are located approximately a two-minute walk from the main lodge and dining room. Please note that access involves a very small amount of elevation differential. Because of this, the farmhouse option is not suitable for guests with walking or mobility limitations. Guests who require easier access should select the private lodge room option at the higher cost.

Currency adjustment possibility: Foreign travel pricing may change due to fluctuations in exchange rates, such as the U.S. dollar versus the euro. Because future rates can’t be predicted, final trip costs are based on the exchange rate at the time of final payment. The current pricing uses a blended rate from recent years, but small adjustments of a few percent may be necessary. All participants should be aware that this possibility applies to any international trip, including this Sicily tour.

Possible charter bus cost adjustment   Due to ongoing fuel price volatility, charter bus costs may be subject to adjustment. Current tour pricing is based on present fuel rates, and we do not anticipate significant changes. However, if fuel costs rise substantially before final payment is due, any resulting fuel surcharges from the bus company may require a corresponding increase in tour cost. We do not expect this to occur but want to make travelers aware of the possibility in advance.

Small local room taxes: There may be a small local room tax of a euro or two a night per room. It depends on the locale. These are not included and if applicable, will be added to each room’s final bill, payable individually at checkout.

Mimimum trip size: The trip price is based on 25 paying participants. There will be an adjustment on the base price as per below:

24 paying participants: +$45

23  paying participants: +55

22 paying participants:+65

21 paying participants: +75 

GRATUITY POLICY     At the end of each stay, guests are invited to contribute to a collective “thank you” for staff. Contributions are voluntary, with a suggested guide of approximately €200 per person for a 12-day tour. This amount is shared among servers, housekeeping, and drivers.

Your generosity is always appreciated, and the staff are sincerely grateful for your kindness.

Cancellation policy: First deposit fully non-refundable. Get trip insurance to protect deposited money AFTER announcement that the trip is a go. Cancellation after final payment has been made will result in loss of all unrecoverable funds, to be determined by Morningstar.

Upgrade possibilities at Relais Cavalongo (Ragusa stay) and Minereto (Syracusa stay) 

Notes on upgrades:

Parco Cavalonga: Two Terrace Rooms with Valley View and two Terrace Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Minereto: Standard sea view rooms are extremely limited and were unavailable for our group, as they are typically reserved by returning guests. Guests wanting a sea view room must book either the Pano Suite or Presidential Suite category.

Extra activities

Catania – Day 3 
 Mt. Etna adventures including hiking, quad tours, glacier cat excursions, and more. Activities and pricing will be announced later, and guests will be able to select and reserve options well in advance.

Ragusa (during our 5-night stay)
The Cavalongo offers a variety of activities, including mountain biking, spa treatments, horseback riding, and more. Full details will be provided at a later date.

Ragusa / Morningstar Optional Beach & Bike Day
Enjoy a day trip (included) to nearby Ragusa Beach, a charming seaside town just 20 minutes away. Guests may choose to: Optional activities at the beach will be:

• Join an easy round-trip bike ride on a newly completed paved coastal path (approximately 2 hours)
• Participate in an optional wine-paired lunch at one of our favorite local spots

Minereto / Syracusa  Activities
The hotel also offers optional spa services and activities. Details will be announced later.

Guests fly from the USA into Catania, Sicily (CTA).

Important Passport Requirement
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates. If your passport is close to expiration, damaged, or lacks empty pages for stamps, renew it before travel.

First deposit: $700 due upon sign-up. First deposit is non-refundable. Don’t get trip insurance until trip hits minimum ‘it’s a go’ level. If it does not reach this minimum (this almost never happens) your deposit is of course refunded. But once it is a go, then the deposit should be protected by a policy. 

Second deposit: $1200 due March 1, 2027
