NOTES ON DATE ALTERATIONS: You can choose to add a few days on prior to your trip to allow time to accommodate jet lag. You could stay some pre-nights in Rome or Bari.  We can arrange extra hotel nights for you in either city.

Day 2: Optional wine tasting of local wines led by our local som-friend, Teresa. A delicious education! $25

Day 3: Ride thru Aquaduct park to Locorotondo bike ride: $145 for transport to starting point, electric-assist bikes, guides

Day 5: Optional ride through the countryside passing thru ancient olive groves and fields of wild flowers, ending at the sea. $145 for transport to starting point, electric-assist bikes, guides  OR… If you choose not to ride, leave mid-morning to arrive at Torre Canne, the seaside end point of the bike ride. An hour of free time before meeting up with the bike riders and proceeding on to the hilltop town of Martina Franca. You will have several hours for exploring and lunch on your own. Following will be our scheduled olive oil tasting.

 Day 8 All-day bike ride in the countryside around Pitti/ Alta Mura: $165 for transport to starting point, electric-assist bikes, guides, lunch included

Tour Cost and upgrades

Because the tour features unique boutique hotels and historic Masserias, room categories and pricing vary. To calculate your total trip cost, select your preferred accommodations and room category for each segment of the tour. Single-occupancy pricing is also available and follows the same room-selection process

*Note of possible bus fuel surcharge. Although unlikely, due to the volatility of the current fuel costs, there could be a possibility in future of a surcharge from the bus companies if things do not stabilize. We do not think this likely and have never implemented this on any tour, but it is a possibility at time of final payment.

Determining Your Total Cost

Room upgrades Bari nights 1 and 10

Cervarolo is a complex rooming upgrade situation. Every room at Cervarolo is different. Not every room category can accommodate 2 separate beds, so those wanting individual beds will have to take the category that affords this option. The Master Suite is being offered for the first time to guests. It used to be the owners suite. Now it is being offered to guests. It is gorgeous unit that has two bedrooms with private in suite bath with a common living room and small kitchen. It can be used by two single occupants or by two couples. OR it is possible for one couple to take the entire unit. The table below shows all the choices for room types and upgrade costs. The costs are per person and are for the entire 4 night stay.

The San Nicola is a palace that has been transformed into a 4-star propety in the heart of ancient Alta Mura. A standard double occupancy room is included in the base price. Upgrade options are listed below.

The Masseria Pitti is located in the countryside 9 minutes from Alta Mura. ALL rooms are an upgrade. See table below.

Note: Everyone will have happy hour and wine-paired dinners at Pitti including all staying at San Nicola. Our driver will transport the San Nicola people to Pitti and back each night.

Note: Single occupants have a much less expensive single occupancy option at San Nicola, as there are no designated single rooms at Pitti. Singles can stay at Pitti, but the single occupancy upgrade is much more than at San Nicola. See table below. 

Masseria Pitti

We highly recommend you protect your trip a Trip Insurance policy.  It protects your trip in case of accident or illness that prevents you going, as well as on-trip incidents such as lost luggage, trip delay, and most importantly medical coverage and evacuation.  If you are under 70, look at World Nomads. Air details  

LEAVE USA September 6, 2027.The nearest major airport to Bari is Rome FCO. Of course, you can route your air thru other cities, as you chose. You must arrive into Bari, Italy on September 7, 2027for your first hotel night of the tour. If you would like to arrive a day or two earlier to shake off the jet lag and recharge, we can arrange extra hotel nights at either our 4-star Nicholas Hotel upon request. You fly out of Bari returning to USA or points elsewhere any time on September 17, 2027. The LAST HOTEL NIGHT of the tour is September 16 in Bari. Important note:

NOTE: If you are flying into Rome, you can book 55 minute flights from FCO to Bari airport. CAVEAT/ WARNING: Make sure to get a flight that is non-stop! Otherwise, what should take an hour can take five hours.  Plan carefully and accordingly. Further, there is a 3.5 hour train ride from Rome to Bari as well. Organizing all your air to/from Bari is each participant’s responsibility. Please: pay attention to all the details and make sure your flights are on correct dates and that your flights mesh with each other.

NOTE: There is no transport from Bari airport to hotel on either end of trip. This is due to the fact that people will be arriving at various times of day and it is not possible to coordinate one pickup. Everyone takes a short taxi ride to their hotel, on their own.

Currency adjustment possibility: There is a chance the Euro could strengthen between the time of deposit and the time of final payment in January. This is a risk with foreign travel. This could result in a  increase in the final payment amount due. 

Small local room taxes: There may be a small local room tax of a euro or two a night per room. It depends on the locale. These are not included and if applicable, will be added to each room’s final bill, payable individually at checkout. 

Masseria Cervarolo minimum surcharge: Nights 2,3,4,5 are at Masseria Cervarolo. A condition of the great discounted rate we received from this property for the group was that we use all 18 rooms in the property.  These rooms must be paid for whether occupied or not. So in addition to the below minimum size surcharge possibility, there will be an additional surcharge to cover any unused Cervarolo rooms as per below. 

1 unused room: +$49 per person 

2  unused rooms: $79per person

3 unused rooms: $99 per person

4 unused rooms: $119

Mimimum trip size: The trip price is based on 25 paying participants. There will be an adjustment on the base price as per below:

24 paying participants: +$39

23 paying participants: +49

22 paying participants:+59

21 paying participants: +69

Deposits & Final Payment Dates

Note:    Please make sure to send Morningstar an email so we can have you email address. We will communicate via emails for all details pertaining to your tour.

First deposit for those taking the place of an original participant: $700 per person due upon sign up. Deposit is non-refundable.Send in Initial Deposit form linked near top of this page.

Buy trip insurance  AFTER the trip has reached “its a go” status.  (see above for link) 

Deadline for $700 first deposit: upon sign up

Second deposit of $700 due November 21, 2026

 Final payment: January 31, 2027

Passports

Make sure you have one and that it does not expire within 6 months of your departure date.

Cancellation policy: First deposit fully non-refundable.  Cancellation after final payment has been made will result in loss of all unrecoverable funds, to be determined by Morningstar. GET TRIP INSURANCE to protect your depostied money.
