Excited, excited! We have done three tours to Schweitzer, Idaho in the past and we had spectacular times there. It is time to go back and rip it up again. Schweitzer fills Skiman’s bill: short lift lines, uncrowded slopes, good varied ski terrain, and far enough from the maddening ski herd to offer some chilled, retro, skiing. There is a SNOW CAT day option for experts. I did this the last time I was at Schweitzer and it was excellent and highly recommended. I love this resort! And when you add into the mix a very funky, affordable, town of Sand Point, Idaho only twelve miles away… done!
Sand Point, Idaho, on the shores of Idaho’s largest lake, is gorgeous, fun, and affordable. We will spend 5 nights in the #1 rated hotel… right on the lake.
Sand Point, Idaho is one of the most charming, laid back ski villages you can visit. Located on the shores of huge Lake Ponderay, this town is small, walkable, and beautiful. All bars and restaurants are within walking distance of our hotel. For a small town, it has an amazing assortment of restaurants offering varied and interesting cuisines. There is a wine bar/ restaurant run by an amazing lady chef that we cannot wait to revisit. Deb and I will take you along. Stunning food there! And an added bonus: Nothing in Sand Point is stupid expensive.
Cat Skiing! One of the great things about Schweitzer is that they offer a first-class snow cat day right out of the resort. If you are strong upper intermediate or expert skier, this is a great way to spend a day skiing in untracked powder on the back side of the resort. We will be offering this to everyone on the tour and it is highly recommended.
Lodging: We are going to the #1 rated hotel in Sand Point, Best Western Edgewater Hotel, located right on the lake shorhe amenities and a restaurant and bar on premises. It has a wonderful hot tub and indoor pool as well. Everything is a short walk away, so going out at night for a few drinks and dinner will be very easy and convenient. There are no meals included in this package. There is a restaurant on the premises where you can purchase breakfast. Single occupancy: Add $209 for the entire 5 night stay. If you prefer, we can try to match you up with a same-sex room mate. No guarantees of success, but we can attempt. More often than not, we are successful.
A plethora of great lake and mountain views await you at Schweitzer. Great skiing and great panos.
Air: For some reason, flying into Spokane, WA is very affordable compared to about anywhere.
Getting Air: The best way to get air these days is just find the best price out there that works time-wise and buy it. Ask us for the time parameters before you buy and go hunting.

DON’T BUY your air until we have reached the minimum number for the trip to go. Once we have reached that number, we will give the go ahead on purchasing your air. AIR PARAMETERS: You need to arrive into Spokane by 2 PM on January 23. Your departure cannot be before 10 AM on January 28th.
Lift passes: There are 4 possible full ski days on this trip. We are including in the package a 3 out of 5 day Senior pass. You will have the option of purchasing an extra 4th day pass for a discounted price at the time of final payment. If you are less than 65 years old, the cost of the package is $22 more.
Juniors 12 and under, take off $45 from package cost. Seniors over 80 ski free and can take off $192 off the package price.
The ground transportation: Spokane airport is 1.5 hours from Sand Point. Our hotel is 12 miles from the slopes. To cover this transportation need, we have rented 4-wheel-drive vehicles, a mix of SUVs and pick up trucks for the ski gear and luggage. The cost of the vehicles and the gas are not included in the package price. Cost will be determined once we have the final count of participants.
Our lodging at the Edgewater Hotel is right on the lake shore and has one of the nicest pool and hot tub areas we have seen. It is located right next to the center of charming Sand Point downtown, where a great variety of tasty restaurants await you.

*Senior 3 out of 4 day lift pass. Adults less than 65 must add $22 to the package price. Kids under 12, deduct $45.
You will have the option of adding on an extra 4th ski day to your pass at time of final payment for a discounted price.
**IF number of lift pass purchasing participants falls below 20, then an additional lift pass cost surcharge will be added to the final cost as follows: +29 per person for the entire tour. You must be willing to accept the above possible charges at time of sign-up. We will not know the number of participants until time of final payment
Deposits: Upon signup, you must make a non-refundable deposit of $250 at time of sign-up. The sooner you sign up, the better your odds for all participants to procure affordable airfare. DO NOT buy air until we have reached our minimum number of skiers to make the trip a go. Once we have, we will notify everyone and then you can purchase air. Please BUY TRIP INSURNCE. Snow cat skiing is right at the resort… easy to access and a gateway to untracked powder in nice terrain. Some of the Morningstar crew a few years ago on the Schweitzer snowcat day. DO OVER!
